Who are the BBUGS?

Bioengineering and Biosciences Unified Graduate Students(BBUGS)

BBUGS is the largest, most diverse, graduate student group on the Georgia Tech campus. We are an interdisciplinary student group, comprised of 8 different departments, with our home in IBB.  BBUGS serves as the core student group for the bioengineering and bioscience community. We target the bio-related fields, but we want everyone to feel included -- if you want to join us, please do.

ALL GRADUATE STUDENTS ARE WELCOMED!  We invite all graduate students in any type of biotechnology, bioscience, or bioenineering lab at Georgia Tech and Emory University to join us! This includes students in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, materials science & engineering, medicine, and students in any traditional engineering or science degree programs that do research in a bio-based lab or building (IBB, ES&T, Whitaker, Cherry Emerson, Woodruff or anywhere else).

What does BBUGS do?

We have several committees that integrate traditional graduate education with elements of life beyond graduate school including social activities, industry events, K-12 and other education and outreach, clinical seminars, networking, and political/public policy events. As the world gets smaller, we need to be aware of all elements of society and how we can impact our field on a wider, more global basis.
